A USSR forage cap (pilotka). It was made in Russia. Caps are made according to the USSR GOST (a USSR set of technical standards). The pilotka is of Large/XLarge size. It stretches well, so it can fit almost everyone.
On the forage cap there's a badge - a red star with a hamlet and a sickle inside, that symbolises the USSR Red Army.
In the Russian Imperial Army pilotka appeared in 1913 as an element of uniforms in the aviation and aeronautic parts. Originally called the "Pereletka" or "Poletka" (the derivative from the word "flight"), it was introduced as a compact folding headdress so that the pilot could carry it with him in his pocket or in his bosom and put on after the flight instead of a leather helmet. The cap was worn by officers-pilots during flights and service at the airfield. At the end of 1915, the pilotka was also introduced in military schools, sometimes it was encountered in infantry.
