This early belt drive generator stands 10 inches tall, 13 inches tall and put out 80 volts of electricity. Researching this has turned up no information as to its original purpose but telephone or telegraph use seems likely. The generator is of iron and brass construction and has a brass tag that reads

I have not tested this to see if it still puts out electricity but the magnets do still have magnetism.

This is a beautiful 1890s authentic Max Kohl Chemnitz Quadrant Electrometer made in Germany. This comes from the display of the Physics Department of the College of Wooster in Ohio. Very nice condition. The black marks must have been made by electrical tape wrapped around the unit years ago. I'll leave it to you to remove the tape marks. Almost all brass with three leveling feet. There is a small window to look inside. This was used in physics labs in the early days to study electricity. This will make a great display in science classroom, office, of home.
The information tag DOES NOT come with the item!!! It is in the photos for reference only!
