Description
Georgian Pocket Sovereign ScaleOval tin case some 4½" long x 2" wide contains a tiny pair of scales and two weights, one for a gold guinea (8.3gm), the other for a half guinea. The weights are stamped with a lion and 5-8 and 2-16 and everything is in good condition (in my experience much better than the average for this type of scale).

You are bidding on an antique London 1709 desk thermometer with a mother of pearl face set in decorative brass with a marble base. The mother of pearl face appears to be hand painted and has an etched floral design. The thermometer shows both the Fahrenheit and Reaumur temperature scales. The thermometer measures approximately 7 1/4" tall. The marble base measures approximately 5" wide and 4" from front to back. The oval shaped mother of pearl face measures approximately 3 1/8" tall and 2 1/4" wide. The thermometer is in good, antique condition. The etched painted floral design on the face shows loss of paint. The brass shows some surface wear due to age. The thermometer is attached to a marble base has a crack and appears to have been repaired (see photo) The screws and nuts holding the brass on the marble base are rusty and need to be tightened. Please see photos for more information regarding condition. This is a very unique brass and mother of pearl
London 1709 desk thermometer that is in overall good condition for its age.
