Antique Hand Blown Glass Laboratory Vessel Great Steampunk Form Kipps Apparatus

Description

Up for bid is this antique glass laboratory vessel measuring 16" tall and 4-1/4" wide at the base. I'm not sure what the actual function of this piece is but I'm sure the science or chemistry majors know. The glass is hand blown and aside from some interior dirt or residue, the glass is in overall excellent condition with no damage. Please email if you have any questions.   Someone told me this is a Kipps apparatus used for generating laboratory gases. Pretty cool.
Unique and appealing demonstration showing three gears and two pinions combined for 16:1 ratio. At each end is a "rope" configuration for input/output adding a 4:1 ratio for a total ratio of 64:1.  Steel bar supporting the mechanism has one end round and one end square. Large gears are ~ 2.75" diameter and pinions are ~.66" diameter.
