    Antique, Dated 1675 EX-RARE Brass Sundial Old English Transience of Life Quote
    For your consideration is a charming and rare antique Sundial - an instrument designed for measuring time, used since ancient Egyptian times and now a well-regarded element of any garden of sophistication
    Made of thick brass or bronze with an elaborated cut out harp shaped gnomon
    Dated 1675 dial plate, with beautifully engraved Roman numerals and a themed decoration, reminding us about the transience of life: a skull and a scythe illustrating a quote in old English "Lifes but a shade"
    The Medieval memento mori style darkness is compensated by the beautiful sun and the scrolls surrounding the gnomon
    Circa 17th century, British
    All original, unique and authentic
    Measurements:
    Approx. 8" diameter (across) x 4.5" tall with gnomon
