This measurement tool is 5 inches long. It looks to have a brass finish, but the inside of each leg is a steel color. I have not cleaned them. It may have marks, but I can't read them. I didn't want to disturb the patena. The noticed that one point is 1/16" shorter than the other. I'm not sure if that's how it was made or the point broke. Hard to tell. Still firmly put together. I'm not sure how old they are. I searched under antique scientific instruments and saw a similar tool. That was a 18th century divider. My great-grandfather was in the shipping line business, so it may have a nautical history from Germany. See photos. Thanks.
